This week saw the first two reviews of Freddie & Me on the web - both were brief, but both were positive, so I'm taking that as a good sign. I dunno if I will link to every review that ends up getting written, but since these two are the first times I'm hearing other people's thoughts on the book, I thought they warranted a special mention.
First, fellow New York City cartoonist and LiveJournal pal of mine, Jenny Gonzalez posts a very complimentary "Cartoonists to watch out for" article on fanboy.com.
The second one looks like it was just posted this morning (which says something about the speed at which "Google Alerts" will alert you to something on the web), is from a book review blog called Trashotron.com and is more of a straightforward review.
My favorite part: "I have to admit, this book was a tough sell for me. Something about an autobio via Queen just set my teeth conceptually on edge. But like many books actually reading the damn thing made a big difference. 'Freddy & Me' is just utterly charming, a straightforward look at growing up with a famous rock band for a sort of virtual friend. There's a rough-hewn sweetness to this book that I suspect will take a lot of readers by surprise."
